This Privacy Policy explains how United Rent A Car, a DBA of Drive It Rent A Car LLC ("United Rent A Car", "we", "us"), 6224 17th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11204, collects, uses and protects your personal information when you rent a vehicle from us, contact us, or receive text messages from us.
Information we collect
- Contact details: your name, address, phone number and email address.
- Driver information: your driver's license details and date of birth, as needed to rent a vehicle.
- Payment information: credit or debit card details used for deposits and payments. Cards are processed by our payment processor.
- Insurance information: your insurance company, policy and claim numbers when a rental is billed to insurance.
- Rental information: the vehicle you rented, rental dates, mileage, fuel level, tolls, tickets and charges.
- Messages: texts, emails and calls between you and us.
How we use your information
- To make, manage and close your rental.
- To process payments, deposits and refunds.
- To bill tolls, parking and traffic tickets incurred during your rental.
- To bill and work with your insurance company or body shop on a covered rental.

How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to provide your rental:
- with service providers that help us run our business, such as our rental software, payment processor, toll management service and phone provider;
- with your insurance company or body shop, when your rental is billed to an insurance claim;
- with toll agencies, parking authorities and government agencies for tolls and tickets during your rental;
- when required by law, or to protect our rights and property.
Text messages (SMS)
If you agree to receive text messages, United Rent A Car will send texts from 718-871-1600 about your rental: rental and return reminders, toll and ticket balances, payment reminders, and reminders to sign insurance paperwork. We do not send marketing or promotional messages.
- How you opt in: by giving us your mobile number and agreeing to texts on your rental agreement, or by texting START to 718-871-1600. Agreeing to texts is not a condition of renting a car.
- How you opt out: reply STOP to any message. You will receive one message confirming you are unsubscribed and will receive no more messages. You can reply START to sign up again.
- Help: reply HELP to any message, or call 718-871-1600.
- Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All of the categories of sharing listed above exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent. This information will not be shared with any third parties.
How we protect your information
We keep your information in secure systems that only our staff and service providers can access, and only for as long as we need it for your rental, for billing, or as required by law.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, subject to the records we must keep by law. You can stop text messages at any time by replying STOP. To make a request, contact us using the details below.
